Tangled is the tale of Rapunzel, the long-haired maiden of ancient lore whose marvelous locks were the focus of as much wonder as mystery.
Stolen away from an area kingdom’s palace when she was an infant, Rapunzel knows nothing of her origin except for one thing: she has a lot of hair.
Her seventy feet of magical hair — that glistens in the sunlight and shines when she sings — is magical. Rapunzel is a sheltered girl, having spent her entire youth holed up in a lonely brick tower; but alas, the girl yearns for freedom.
As Disney’s version of the “Rapunzel” tale continues, viewers are introduced to an eighteen-year-old girl all too eager to break out on her own. Fortunately or unfortunately, an opportunity arises in the form of an amiable thief, Flynn Rider, who happens across the girl’s hideaway tower by accident. Tangled enters theaters Thanksgiving Day Weekend 2010, aiming to combine all the familiar elements of song-and-dance adventure and family comedy typical of Disney fairytale features. Tangled is directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno; the film is produced by Roy Conli.
Flynn and Rapunzel — based on a mutual-adventure compact — quest about the kingdom, exploring its expansive forests and lively markets. Rapunzel wants to interact with the people of the countryside, having never done so before. Flynn, on the other hand, kind of just wants to get away from it all (depending on whether or not the palace guards are still after him, of course).
